Uganda’s Health Minister, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has disclosed that Kambuga Hospital will become a Regional Referral Hospital when it is refurbished and expanded.
Minister Aceng made the remarks on Wednesday 29th March 2023 while presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony of the commencement of renovation works at Kambuga Hospital in Kanungu District.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister for ICT Hon Chris Baryomunsi, the Woman Member of Parliament Hon Patience Kinshaba Nkunda, the LC 5 Chairman Eng Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo among many others.
The Minister said that the refurbishment will be carried out in phases, with a focus on the Maternity, Male, Female & Pediatric Wards in the current fiscal year, followed by the OPD and imaging center next financial year.
The Minister said that implementation of the project which will cost an estimated Ugx 40 billion will be a joint effort by the Ministry of Defense through the UPDF Engineering Brigade and Kanungu District Local Government.
