President Yoweri Museveni criticized the United States and the United Kingdom for warning their citizens about safety in Uganda.
He called them “mistake makers” and said his government would inform people if there was real danger. The warnings were given after the killing of two tourists in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The U.S. embassy advised against attending the Nyege Nyege festival in Jinja, and the UK warned about travel to various parts of Uganda due to a “growing terror threat.”
President Museveni, in a statement, stated that the foreign advisories were unnecessary interference. He emphasized that Uganda knows how to handle situations and would be the first to advise against travel if needed.
Despite the warnings, he congratulated the organizers and attendees of the Nyege Nyege festival, praising the security forces for ensuring a successful and incident-free event.
