The vibrant hues of Holi illuminated the atmosphere at the KCCA Grounds in Kampala as the Rajasthani Association, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Uganda, the Indian High Commission, Uganda, and Kansai Plascon, orchestrated a jubilant celebration of the Festival of Colors. Drawing a crowd of over 5000 attendees from diverse backgrounds, the event showcased the essence of unity and diversity within the Indian community.
Holi, a cherished Hindu festival symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and the onset of spring, served as a cultural cornerstone for the Indian community, fostering bonds of camaraderie and mutual celebration.
Children and youth gleefully indulged in the playful exchange of colored powder solutions, known as ‘gulal’, while adults adorned each other’s faces with vibrant dry colored powder, known as ‘abir’, epitomizing the spirit of friendship and festivity. Mouthwatering Indian delicacies added to the festive ambiance, enhancing the experience for all attendees.
A highlight of the event was the raffle draw, where fortunate winners seized exciting prizes, including televisions and a return ticket to Mumbai, India. Plascon’s Brand Manager, Daniel Kayongo, presented the prizes and expressed his enthusiasm for supporting community initiatives, emphasizing Plascon’s commitment to fostering unity and cultural exchange.
