Frank Gashumba has raised doubts about the severity of Bobi Wine’s recent injury, suggesting that it has been exaggerated.
Frank Gashumba, a well-known critic of the National Unity Platform [NUP], took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to express his skepticism, posting a picture that appeared to show a minor injury on Bobi Wine’s leg.
He captioned the image with the sarcastic remark “China Town Bullet,” implying that the injury was not as serious as some have claimed.
The controversy began when an admin handling Bobi Wine’s social media accounts stated that the NUP President had been “clearly targeted and shot in the leg.”
However, the Ugandan police later provided a different narrative, stating that Bobi Wine had not been shot but had instead stumbled while trying to get into his car, resulting in the injury.
This explanation led to skepticism, with critics like Gashumba accusing the NUP of exaggerating the incident.
As the debate intensified, NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi offered further clarification, stating that Bobi Wine had been injured by a teargas canister, not a bullet.
Ssenyonyi explained that fragments from the canister had lodged in Bobi Wine’s leg and that he was scheduled to undergo surgery.
