Uganda’s very own Alison Mary Akello just snagged 2nd Runner-Up at Miss Tourism Africa 2024! She repped hard at the grand finale held yesterday, October 1st, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria—going up against 20 contestants from all over Africa at the Landmark Centre.
ICYMI, Akello recently passed on her Miss Tourism Uganda (Teso region) crown in August to Betty Acam Okello, but clearly, she’s still out here shining. She was among the top 5 finalists and led the Miss Popularity contest with a whopping 465 votes, followed by Namibia, Mauritius, and others. Uganda was bringing in the votes HARD—showing mad love online.
Before the big day, Akello was feeling the support, saying, “I want to call upon my people in Uganda… Let’s pray to God for this crown to come home.” Ugandans really had her back, but hey, 2nd Runner-Up is still a win in our books!
Also making an appearance: Mr. Tourism Africa Ugandan rep, Bernard Nabaasa (because of course we’ve got both the King and Queen in the building).
Winner walks away with $2,000, a trip to the Maldives, AND Milan Fashion Week… but Akello’s already a queen to us!
