On October 4, 2024, Topowa Youth Mentoring Uganda, a group committed to empowering young people and addressing the growing issue of drug and alcohol abuse, held an impactful event at Nabisunsa Girls School.
The packed auditorium was filled with enthusiasm as students engaged with passionate mentors, eager to address one of the most pressing challenges facing youth today—substance abuse.
Unlike a traditional lecture, Topowa’s visit was an eye-opening, interactive session that featured honest conversations, a powerful Q&A, and a drama performance that vividly portrayed the dangers of drugs. Students were urged to make informed decisions and take control of their futures by rejecting harmful substances.
“It was such an empowering experience,” one student remarked. “I feel more confident standing up to peer pressure now.”
The event aimed to spark change not only within the school but also in the broader community. By raising awareness and encouraging students to become role models for their peers, Topowa is creating a ripple effect that could lead to a healthier, drug-free generation.
With more schools in line for their nationwide campaign, Topowa Youth Mentoring Uganda is just getting started!
