The police in Katwe are holding five notorious criminals who have reportedly been instilling fear in parts of Katwe, Kinawataka, and other parts of Kampala.

According to the Kampala metropolitan spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, on December 16, 2024, the police carried out an intelligence-led operation, resulting in the arrest of Mayanja Daglas, alias “Terrorist.”

Mayanja, a known gang leader, had been on the police watchlist and was wanted for aggravated robbery.

He had been out of Luzira prison for 11 months and had been in hiding.

In a separate operation, Jinja Road Police, in collaboration with the UPDF, local leaders, and vigilantes, conducted a joint operation in Kinawataka, Centre Zone, Katoogo, and along the railway line.

The operation targeted criminals involved in phone snatching and marijuana trafficking.

During the operation, five suspects were arrested, including one female, who were caught red-handed selling marijuana.

The suspects include: Olowo Patrick, alias “Machete,” a notorious criminal involved in house breakings and phone snatching, Awori Margaret, Okello Allan, Ariaka Robert, and Mwezi Frank.

He said all the suspects were taken to Kinawataka Police Station, charged, and are pending completion of inquiries and court proceedings.

The operation was deemed a success, with the arrest of marijuana dealers, recovery of exhibits, and the apprehension of notorious criminal Olowo Patrick.
