Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on April 4, 2025, hosted its annual Cultural Gala at the Nakawa-based main campus, attracting thousands of students, staff, and invited guests for a colorful celebration of Uganda’s ethnic diversity.

Held under the theme “Rooted in Tradition and Growing Towards Sustainability,” the gala spotlighted cultural identity through vibrant displays of traditional music, dance, attire, and drama.

Over 40 tribal groups showcased unique performances, each reflecting their cultural heritage. The top 10 groups—ranked for creativity, authenticity, and audience engagement—included the Acholi, Langi, Bakiga, Karamojong, Buganda, South Sudanese, Iteso, Bamasaba, Banyoro, and Great Arua.

The event was proudly sponsored by Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, which added excitement with free drinks, interactive experience zones, and electrifying live performances from Ugandan music stars Vinka and Fik Fameica.

MUBS Guild President Moses Amanya praised the event’s role in fostering national cohesion.

“This gala shows that our cultural differences are a source of strength. As students preparing to engage globally, it’s vital we uphold our roots,” he said.

Macklean Kukundakwe, Coca-Cola’s Country Trade and Marketing Manager, commended the students’ passion and originality.

“We are proud to support this initiative that promotes heritage and connects communities,” she noted.

Beyond performances, the gala featured cultural exhibitions, traditional cuisine, and fashion parades—reinforcing the importance of preserving Uganda’s diverse cultures in an era of modernization.

The 2025 MUBS Cultural Gala concluded with a powerful message: cultural heritage is not only a source of identity but a foundation for sustainable development in an increasingly globalized world.
