Sheilah Gashumba has revealed that being a TV presenter in Uganda did not make any economic sense to her as she was earning peanuts and hence had to quit.
How can you be presenting and the only thing you own on the outfit is a knicker?Sheilah Gashumba on how Ugandan TV presenters are broke
Sheilah Gashumba abandoned her job on NTV in 2019, citing low pay. She revealed that she was being paid Ugx50,000 per show, and it didn’t make much sense to her.

She then joined NBS TV to be part of the Fantastic 5 cast of the popular After 5 weekly music show but later quit in November 2021 to NRG Radio Ug.
In an interview on Kauku Live, Gashumba stated that TV presenters are broke.
She noted that most of them borrow the clothes they wear on set to keep up with appearances, but they do not earn enough pay in the real sense.
Those days, they would give you between Ugx100k to Ugx50k per show. Does that make any economical sense? I didn’t lie about the Ugx50k. When you asked for a pay raise, it’s like they were doing you a favor.
TV presenters are broke. They borrow clothes. How can you be presenting and the only thing you own on the outfit is a knicker? The people from whom they borrow these clothes even wait to take their clothes back on set. Immediately, you are done, you take them off.
