The Catholic Church in Uganda is in mourning following the death of Monsignor Expedito Magembe, a revered priest of Mt. Sion Bukalango, who passed away on May 9, 2025.
The announcement was made by Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe, Chancellor of the Kampala Archdiocese, on behalf of the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere.
“On behalf of the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, I regret to announce the demise of Monsignor Expedito Magembe, of Mt. Sion Bukalango on the 9th of May 2025,” read the official communication from the Archdiocese. “Updates to follow.”
Monsignor Magembe was widely known for his deep spiritual guidance, healing ministry, and commitment to the growth of the charismatic movement in Uganda.
At Mt. Sion Bukalango, he drew thousands of faithful from across the country and beyond, seeking prayer, healing, and renewal.
Details regarding funeral arrangements and further updates are expected to be released by the Archdiocese in due course.
