Lydia Jazmine

Biography:

Lydia Jazmine, born Lydia Nabawanuka  is a Ugandan female recording artist. She was born in 1991. She was born to Mr.. Kasugi William and Nakanwangi Scolastica in Mukono
 

She attended Victoria Nile School for her elementary school. She then transferred to Saint Mary's School Namaliga, in Kimenyedde sub-county, Mukono District. She completed high school at one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Uganda, Cityland College Matugga.
In February 2016, she graduated from Multitech Business School in Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city, with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management degree.

Jazmine started singing in high school, after she joined the school choir. Later she joined the church choir at the Passover Harvest Centre and at Watoto Church. When she graduated from high school, she joined a band called Gertnum, where she sang background vocals.

Later, the music group Radio and Weasel signed Jazmine to a contract as a back-up singer. She is the back-up vocalist on the songs "Ntunga" and "Breath Away". She later performed background vocal lyrics for Bebe Cool and Sheebah Karungi. Her first single was a duet with Rabadaba called "You Know", released circa 2014

Lydia joined the music industry in 2014 and in 2015-2016 she was voted the breakthrough artist of the year in Ugandan music awards. The Songbird was first signed by producer Bushington but later got signed  and managed by Ronnie Mulindwa formerly of Obsessions. Currently however, she seems to have gone back to Bushingtone after they released a song early this month.
 

During this time Jazmine did various tours with artists like Coco finger and Fidempa from Kenya. She also partnered with a guitarist Harry Lwanga to form an acoustic group and they started doing acoustic cover songs as a way of raising her tuition. 
 

According to Lydia Jazmine while performing to one of her acoustic gigs in 2013 she got a chance to meet Mowzey Radio and Weasel and producer Bushington who was their producer at the time. 
 

Bushington later contacted her and hired her as an official back up artist of the Ugandan duo Radio and Weasel. Her voice featured in songs like Breathe away which was produced by Michael’s fingers, Ntunga Ntunga which was produced by Nessim, Can’t let you go. 
Lydia Jazmine has also backed artists like Pallaso, Sheeba Kalungi, Bebe Cool and many more.
 

In 2014  Jazmine released her first single titled you know which was a duet with a Ugandan artist Rabadaba. This was her first single under Necta Music of Bushington who had just signed her under the management.
 

In 2016 Lydia Jazmine teamed up with a talented vocal soldier Geosteady and recorded a song titled Same Way which was produced by Nessim and this was Lydia’s breakthrough hit song in the music industry.  
By the end of 2016, Jazmine had made her name in the industry which inspired the Late Mowzey Radio to write for her a song titled Nkubanja which was released in 2017 and was produced by the Late Danz Kumapeesa
 

In 2017, Jazmine was selected to participate in "Coke Studio Africa 2017", to represent Uganda, for the second consecutive year. This time she was paired with Mozambican songstress Liloca, and assigned to South African music producer Sketchy Bongo.
