Chris Evans

Biography:

Chris Evans, born Christopher Evans Kaweesi, is a Ugandan songwriter, recording and performing artist. He was born in the year1987.  Chris Evans is one of Uganda's most popular musicians in the 21st century. Chris Evans sings primarily in his native Luganda. As of January 2014, he had released about ten singles.

Chris  was born to parents  Christopher Kakooza, a construction worker and Mrs. Kakooza, a housewife. His mother died while he was still a baby and his father died when Kaweesi was about 13 or 14 years old.

He paid for his elementary and middle school education by performing part time jobs at construction sites and at school. He passed his O-Level examinations with flying colors.  His paternal uncle, sponsored his A-Level education at St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende,

He was then admitted to Makerere University on a Uganda Government scholarship to study Agriculture. He enrolled, attended classes, but never graduated. Instead, he used the contacts at the university, to launch his musical career.

Chris started singing when he was still a child and he developed a passion for singing from his late father Christopher who was a singer at Busawuula church of Uganda and Chris remembers going with him each time he went to perform.  At the start of his career, Chris says that people always said that he sounded like Qute Kaye.

Chris Evans fully joined the music industry in 2007 with his first single titled Rihana which he released in 2009 and was produced by Mozart studios. This is the song that introduced him to the industry although it didn’t take him miles. In 2010 he released another song called Ndikusasula ki which rocked most of the airwaves in Uganda.

This song was done by producer David and through this song, he managed to do his first concert in 2011 which was a success. This concert created a lot of controversies since it was organized on the same day as chameleon’s concert.

In 2015 Chris Evans teamed up with songbird Rema Namakula to compose a record and perform a critically acclaimed duet named Linda and this single went ahead and received massive airplay.
