Biography:
Tip Swizzy, born Nicholas Mukalazi is a Ugandan musician and song writer. He is also famously known for his rare and swanky dance styles in all his music videos. According to him, he preferred to use the name Tip Swizzy because When he started making music, he wanted a name that would last forever, so he came up with "Tip Swizzy." Tip is like a hint, and Swizzy got the idea from a Seventh-Day Adventist pastor who used the word a lot.
Swizzy went to so many schools that he can't remember all of them. But he recalls getting an education at St. Augustine Primary School, Peace Infant School, and Bethel Primary School. He then went to Courts High School, Crested High School, and Royal College School to finish high school. Tip Swizzy says that he didn't go to college because the education system in Uganda is a waste of time.
Tip Swizzy was born in Makindye to the late Bruce Mubiru and Nora Nakasi. He mentioned that he grew up with Frank Jah's mother after his parents died. Swizzy was in Senior Two when he dared to venture into the music industry. He always dreamt of being a musician so his drive came from his dreams.
Swizzy is not only a musician but a dancer. In his own words, he didn't switch from dance to music but he does both because they go hand in hand. He mentioned that the group he was in was a dancers group but he is also a musician. For him, music comes before dancing. He however mentioned that in order to break through to the industry, he came in as a dancer.
He was once attached to Eddy Kenzo’s Big Talent but he later quit the label. Kenzo called a meeting and told him he no longer had to do his job. Before he was fired however, he had already planned where he would go next. Apparently, he had some idea that it would happen, and he had also hinted at it in songs by mentioning the brand.
However much Swizzy did not make a lot of money from Big Talent, he still managed to produce his songs. When asked how, he mentioned that Frank Jah is his cousin, because his mother is his aunt. He said Frank has been so helpful to him in his career. He has helped with all of his video shoots and audio recordings, and at one point Swizzy even worked for him.
Swizzy has many songs, including Bolingo, Shake Your Body, Nkulungula, Azonto, Kikube, Agaliko, Akabimbi, Bam Bam Shile, , Nyola among others. He did Bolingo, Kokode, Nkulungula, and Shake Your Body with Kenzo. He also did Baby Say My Name with Spice Diana, Stylo with Khalifa Aganaga, Gal You Murder with Dax Kartel, and Give It To Me with Fefe Busi, among other others.
