Biography:
Beenie Gunter, born Baguma Crescent is a Ugandan singer, song writer and dancehall recording artist. Beenie Gunter was born on 23rd February 1993 to Major John Morgan Waako and Margaret Nambi. Beenie Gunter has been attached to three labels his entire career and he begun with Savvy Music in 2013 till 2015. In 2015 he joined Guntalk City where he was for four years and later joined Talent Africa Group in 2018 to date.
Beenie Gunter was born in Hoima District Toro Kingdom where he grew up with his parents and Siblings starting his early childhood education from the region. He then attended St Mary’s SS Kitende for his secondary education.
Gunter started singing in 2012 but he only recorded his first record titled No offence in 2013 with producer Emon of South Side Studios. He later worked with Ugandan video director Sasha Vybz under his Savvy Music label until 2015, when he joined another record label called Stain where he recorded Lose Control but he left Stain to start his new record label, Guntalk City Movement.
Beenie Gunter followed the success of the No Offence with another single Tubayo which he recorded while in Mbarara City for a show. Gunter released single after single after that, such as Seekle Down, Commando, Pon Mi featuring Dj Slickstuart, Dj Roja and Nigerian artiste Skales and Olina Work in which he featured Skales, but he gained more success and popularity with Pon Mi and Olina Work.
As per his achievements, Gunter was named the artist of the year by hardrockmedia in 2018 after his hit singles Olina work and Pon mi ft. Slick Stuart and Roja. In December 2017, Beenie Gunter won the Buzz Teenz Awards for Teeniez Dancehall Artist of the year and Teeniez Hottest Dancehall Song (Pon Mi) and was nominated for the Most Stylist Male Artist of the Year at the 2018 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards.
Beenie Gunter is currently married and his wife is known as Nickie Berry who he met in 2019. The couple has been in a relationship for over 3 years with them having a son named Baguma. Beenie Gunter is recorded to be having two children including his son with his wife Nickie.
