Uganda’s national women’s team, the Crested Cranes, endured a 2-0 defeat against Tanzania during the CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship at the Azam Complex on Thursday.

This loss marked their third in four matches during the ongoing regional tournament. Previously, the Crested Cranes fell to Burundi (1-0) and Kenya (4-0), bringing their total losses to three.

Tanzania’s top scorer, Clement Opa, opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a straightforward finish. Uganda’s defense failed to clear the ball, allowing Opa’s low strike to find the back of the net, igniting cheers from the home crowd.

Following the goal, Uganda showed some improvement, connecting a few passes in midfield but struggled to create clear scoring opportunities.

With just seven minutes remaining in the match, Diana Msewa sealed Uganda’s fate by scoring the second goal for Tanzania.

This victory keeps Tanzania at the top of the standings with nine points, having scored 12 goals and maintained three clean sheets across three matches.

Tanzania will conclude their campaign against Kenya in a highly anticipated matchup to determine the championship title.
