Amooti Omubalanguzi

Biography:

Amooti Omubalanguzi, born Allan Mujuni is a comedian, artist, and radio personality on the Sisimuka morning show on Beat FM. He is also the Director of Amarula Family, a comedy group. Amooti was born to Moses Bakaturahi (R.I.P) and Annet Kabatalemwa. After the death of his father, he was brought up by his step father Yowasi Kyeyune. He is the first born of six children.

Amooti went to St Kizito Primary School in Mpigi and completed his O-Level at Masaka Secondary School. Amooti later went to Kisubi Technical where he completed studies in mechanical engineering in 1997.

Amooti ended up a comedian because since childhood he was naturally a funny child who loved comedy and imitating different personalities. He also realized his passion was in comedy and that’s how he ventured into comedy.

In 2001, he began professional acting at little Flowers in Kampala. At that time he worked with Omulangira Ndausi, a radio presenter at Radio Simba based in Kampala, the late Paddy Bitama who belonged to the Amarula family and Kigere.

He gained his popularity in a hit TV comedy show Side mirror which was showing on Bukedde TV

Though, a comedian, Amooti takes his work very seriously and is a hardworking man. He is also a very different person when at home as he is very responsible to his wife and children.

Amooti Omubalanguzi is currently living with Shamim Ssekaggya and he has been living with her for over 12 years now and together they have children. Ssekaggya was a queen dancer in Amooti’s group, he picked interest in her that eventually turned into a serious relationship.
